Zodiac Beaker, anonymous, 1355 - 1356
Beakers with depictions of the zodiac were used for holy water. The figures in shallow relief in the bottom row are the twelve signs of the zodiac. Along the top edge is an inscription giving the year of production. The meaning of the remaining motifs in the top row is unclear. While such beakers are common in East Java, they are rarely found, as here, with their original lid.
