High-heeled shoes with ornamental roll, Bata, c. 1938
Czech manufacturer Bata began making shoes in 1894; they kept their prices low, and after the First World War sales increased. Bata began selling in the Netherlands in 1922. In the 1930s, they opened a factory in Best, with special housing for their employees: Batadorp. These shoes are made of silver-coloured leather and decorated with a rolled strip of leather.
