Description

Klein houten kistje met zeven granaatbuizen voor puntgranaten. Drie buizen zijn dubbel, eenmaal heel, eenmaal een helft van een overlangs doorgesneden buis. Deze drie paren stellen de volgende buizen voor: de Field service time-fuse (Armstrong buis type E), de Field service time and concussion-fuse (Armstrong buis type F) en de Armstrong Plain field service concussion-fuse. De zevende buis, zonder schroefdraad, is de Field service concussion-fuse (Armstrong buis type C), die in combinatie met type E gebruikt kon worden.

Explanatory note

Dit kistje werd in 1872 aan de Marinemodellenkamer aangeboden door de Inspecteur der Artillerie. Deze buizen werden o.a. gebruikt op de spring- en segmentgranaten van het 7 en 9 inch Armstrong kanon. In 1874 werden aan boord van de Vulkaan proeven gedaan.
