Model showing part of two superimposed decks with riding bitts and two hatches on the upper deck. The aftermost hatch is the cable hatch. The portside of the model is for the chain cable, the riding bitts are sheathed in copper and the hatch is reinforced. The starboard side is for ordinary rope cable. There is a chain on the portside, which is secured with a stopper in the riding bitts and one in the hatch, both being compressors tied down with a tackle. Cable stoppers have been installed on deck.
This model shows the installation of riding bitts and chain stoppers on a 44-gun frigate.1
