Two Women Scrutinizing a Painting, Grant Tyson Reynard, 1936

etching with drypoint and plate tone, h 201mm × w 176mm More details

Two women look at a painting by Edgar Degas. The window display is probably that of the art dealer Durand-Ruel. The man next to them seems more interested in them than in the picture. Reynard made the print on commission for The American Artists Group. This organization used original graphic art for greeting cards to support artists who had fallen on hard times during the Great Depression.
