Typical of the importance Tamminga attached to the emancipation of women are the covers she designed for the socialist-feminist magazine devoted to working women De Werkende Vrouw. Whether she did so at her own initiative is not known, but in point of fact they were never used. The magazine, which lasted only briefly (1930-1931), came out with a cover by Gerrit Rietveld.
