During this tour you will become acquainted with Rembrandt’s tempestuous life and work.Book now
As an ambitious young man Rembrandt created a furore as a portrait painter. He settled in Amsterdam and married, became pressed for money and sank low, his work fell out of favour, but he got back up on his feet and tirelessly continued seeking new artistic paths until the end of his life. |
The tour covers not only his early self-portraits in which he practiced drawing and etching, but also his later paintings, including the Syndics of the Drapers Guild and The Jewish Bride with their uncompromisingly coarse painting style.
In addition to this story, the tour affords an inspirational exercise in looking. By closely scrutinizing details in his works, you will learn what makes Rembrandt such a unique artist.
