This figure is made in the Baphuon style, recognizable by the draped lower garment worn around the hips and fastened high at the back. The style is named after the Baphuon Temple, part of the complex at Angkor. Such garments were also worn in other regions of the Khmer empire, which extended over Cambodia and several neighbouring countries. The torso was found at Prasat Phnom Chon Lu, a temple in northeast Cambodia.
