The simple, clear-cut design of this chair without back legs is subject to its practical purpose and embodied the new aesthetic. The aim was that Gispen’s functional, durable, and stylish furniture would improve modern man’s living environment. Unique to this chair is that its seat and back are woven of twisted paper, rope, a material Gispen briefly experimented with in the context of further product development.
