The adjacent cross section of a coal mine served as the basis of a fixed series with which Slothouber and Graatsma portrayed the underground mining operation. The cube shape is also decisive for this 3-D image of the mine as seen from above. The tunnels and various levels are superimposed by means of red and blue lines. An effect of depth is created when the cross section is viewed through red-and-blue coloured 3-D glasses.
