Construction model of a top with loose gratings. It is rounded at the front and supported by three crosstrees. The top rim is reinforced with brass strips, the decking is covered with gratings. To the back there is a top rail.
This model represents the maintop of Piet Hein, a ship of the line laid down in 1833, taken apart and re-assembled as the first Dutch screw steam frigate Admiraal van Wassenaer,1 59.62 metres long, built by August Elize Tromp (1801-1871) in Amsterdam from 1853 to 1856.2 Together with a number of models of spars an entire mainmast can be assembled.
