William I ordered this silver trumpet for his Life Guards. The long inscription on the bell lists the members who defended their country from the French in the years 1813 and 1814. On 26 March 1814, four days before William’s investiture as Sovereign of the Netherlands, this trumpet was presented to the former Life Guards at an official ceremony on Amsterdam’s Dam Square.
